Rusty Egg Not Mid Surfbrett

Plenty of wave catching ability

The Egg Not is a squash tail version of our mid-length board, the eGG. With the increasing popularity of mid-lengths, we decided it was more or less a given that we offer a squash tail mid-length board. The Squash tail adds a little more area, lengthens the rail line, and has a more pivoty feel compared to a roundtail.

For the mid-lengths lovers

The curve is a bit above average which translates to helping tighten the arc of your turns without giving up speed. The thickness of the board is a little on the thin side for a board this size. These leaner rails make the board easier to put in the water and also helps it hold better in bigger surf.

Shaper's notes

Simply put, the Egg Not is a squash tail version of our eGG. With the increasing popularity of mid-size boards, we decided it was more or less a given that we offer a squash tail version of our eGG. Outline; Moderate width in the center. The nose is pulled in about an inch from a typical egg nose in. App 15.1. Semi pointed but full. The tail is just under 15. The tail block, one inch up is approximately 7”. The Squash tail adds a little more area, lengthens the rail line, and has a more pivoty feel compared to a roundtail. Rocker on the front end is pretty relaxed. This helps with paddle speed, wave catching, and overall glide. Back in the business zone, the curve is a bit above average, yet subtle. Clean, smooth, no breaks, but plenty. It helps to tighten the arc of your turns without giving up speed. Bottom: entry is almost flat. A little release out towards the rails. In the mid section, on the shorter boards there is a light single that blends into a subtle double vee that peaks about 2 feet up. Backs off to a very light break between and aft the fins. On bigger boards, over 21.75, the bottom becomes slightly more convex. Thickness: A little on the thin side for a board this size. Leaner rails. Easier to put in the water. Holds better in bigger surf. Fins: It’s your call. For a higher performance feel I’d recommend 4. For a cruisier, more traditional feel, 2 plus one, or a single fin. It’s a great board to have in your quiver. When the surf is average, you’ll have plenty of wave catching ability and it will carry through sections but still be loose enough to turn with ease. When the surf gets a bit bigger, it still works...surprisingly well! More waves, more fun!
